COSTA MESA, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- Ceradyne, Inc. (NASDAQ: CRDN) announced that it has received a multi-million dollar blanket purchase order from Plasan Sasa Ltd., Israel, for the production of armor components for the MRAP All Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV). Ceradyne plans to produce these parts in its expanded armor assembly plant in Irvine, California, for delivery to Oshkosh Corporation, the prime contractor. Oshkosh will assemble the components and deliver the M-ATV to the government. All manufacturing procedures for these M-ATV components have now been approved and Ceradyne production commenced this month. It is anticipated that production and delivery will continue throughout 2010. Marc King, Ceradyne's Armor Systems President, stated that Ceradyne was pleased to work in cooperation with Plasan in order to insure quality M-ATV parts are delivered on an expedited delivery schedule to Oshkosh in order to support our troops in the field. TACOM orders M-ATV armor add-on kits - United Press International Posted: 28 Dec 2009 10:46 AM PST OSHKOSH, Wis., Dec. 28 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army has contracted Oshkosh Defense to deliver add-on armor technologies for mine-resistant, ambush-protected all-terrain vehicles. U.S. company Oshkosh received the contract from the Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command Life Cycle Management Command. Under the approximately $54 million deal, Oshkosh will deliver more than 970 of its M-ATV add-on protection kits. Oshkosh says the explosives and ballistics protection add-ons are part of an effort to increase the survivability for troops operating M-ATVs during ongoing missions in Afghanistan. "The M-ATV provides exceptional protection capabilities for our U.S. Armed Forces in Afghanistan, and these add-on armor kits will only further improve upon those capabilities," Andy Hove, Oshkosh Defense executive vice president and president, said in a statement.
