Surferpoll.com to host live webcast of 2009 Surfer Poll Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 14 September, 2009 : - - Dana Point -- This years SURFER Poll and Video Awards presented by American Suzuki and Ultimate Wave Tahiti will be webcast in its entirety exclusively at surferpoll.com beginning at 7 p.m. on Tues., Sept. 15, 2009. Viewers can catch all of the action LIVE the night of the event with exclusive behind-the-scenes moments and red-carpet interviews from co-hosts Matt Beacham and Jodie Nelson. The annual awards event, often coined the Academy Awards of Surfing, honors the top 10 men and top five women as voted on by the public, as well as, the years best surf films and performances. Now in its 37th year, the night has become notorious not only for drawing the worlds greatest surfers from past and present to pay tribute to greatness, but for unexpected antics and shenanigans amongst surfings most elite. In the past, the door to this elusive night has been closed to the public, but thanks to modern technology, a live webcast now brings it to the masses. In 1963, the first SURFER Poll was established asking SURFER Magazine readers to participate in the process of determining the worlds best surfers. Although the awards show has grown and evolved over the years, it is that same democratic process that has continued to be the highlight of what makes the SURFER Poll unique and gives the public a chance to come together with a Collective Voice. Because the event is kept small and therefore is by invitation only for surfers and the immediate industry, the same public that plays a role in determining the winners has finally had the opportunity to see inside the great night for the past few years courtesy of a live webcast from the event. Additionally, on Oct. 19, 2009 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, FUEL TV will once again air the SURFER Poll and Video Awards. Check local listings to confirm date and time. Special thanks to the sponsors of the 2009 SURFER Poll and Video Awards: American Suzuki, Ultimate Wave Tahiti, Red Bull Surfing, Sponsorme.tv, Coors, New Era and FUEL TV. Additional thanks to the VIP table donors whose donations benefit this years charity SurfAid International. SURFER is part of Source Interlinks Action Sports Group (ASG) that reaches more than 2 million action sports enthusiasts through an integrated network of magazines, online properties, events, and television programming. About American Suzuki Motor Corporation: The Brea, Calif.,-based Operations of American Suzuki Motor Corporation (ASMC) was founded in 1963 by parent company Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC) and currently markets its vehicles in the United States through a network of approximately 400 automotive dealerships and numerous other motorcycle, ATV and marine distributors in 49 states.
